This workshop focuses on methods to model, diagnose, evaluate, and improve the safety of active transportation users, as well as how the user friendliness of the infrastructure for vulnerable road users can be enhanced. Topics included in the workshop cover the following areas:

  • Diagnosing safety problems for pedestrians and cyclists
  • Safety evaluation studies for vulnerable road users’ countermeasures
  • Studies on how to enhance the comfort of vulnerable road users
  • Use of surrogate safety measures to analyze the safety of vulnerable road users
  • Methods for data collection of active transportation users
  • Behaviour models for active transportation users
