Professional activities

• 1969-1986 SWOV Institute for Road Safety Research
  Researcher and Senior Researcher; in the field of many different subjects as the safety of pedestrians, the functioning of pedestrian crossing facilities, the effects of the enforcement of legislation on road user behaviour and traffic accidents, the development and application of conflict analysis techniques for road safety research including preparing a Dutch manual, speed control measures, traffic safety in residential areas including the woonerfs and other experiments, research on the reclassification and reconstruction of urban areas in Eindhoven and Rijswijk.
• 1986-1989 SWOV Institute for Road Safety Research
  Research Coordinator; with tasks as the coordination of the research program of SWOV in accordance with the policy of the Ministry of Transport, organising national and international seminaries and congresses.
• 1989-1993 Ministry of Transport
  Senior Administrator Traffic Safety; with the main aim of setting up an experiment in the region Arnhem-Nijmegen for the implementation of sustainable safe countermeasures, road safety advises to other departments in the ministry, team member for the Dutch long term policy for road safety.
